The Library at Gampo Abbey

Knowledge and understanding of Buddhism arises from several sources including studying the texts and interpretations of traditional texts. Gampo Abbey houses an extensive library with approximately 3,000 published titles. The library is used for 3 primary purposes- general interest browsing by residents and visitors, support of study programs like the Shedra and increasingly as a site for primary materials for those interested in doing research.

In addition to published materials like the complete published works of Choygam Trungpa Rinpoche, the library holds a large collection of transcripts by other Rinpoche's including Venerable Thrangu Rinpoche, Ponlop Rinpoche and Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche. Work is underway to collect and develop an electronic library of original translations as well as information on Buddhist teachings on the Internet.
